We often get asked, "Can dogs eat Peanut Butter?" It is with pride that we say yes because of our no added sugars or preservatives. PB is safe for furry friends so long as it is xylitol free and fed in moderation.
Humans enjoy the taste of Americano Peanut Butter. However, that doesn’t mean Fido can’t enjoy it as well. Introducing dog-friendly treats that use ingredients that are safe and healthy for our pups!
Make sure to check labels because some peanut butter brands may be disguised as safe but include Xylitol, a sugar-replacement sweetener. An ingredient which is also present in chocolates. This is poisonous for our canine besties!
Place the oats in a blender or food processor,
and grind until it is the consistency of whole wheat flour. Set aside ¼ cup of
the processed oats for later.
Place the banana in a medium sized bowl, and
mash with a fork until it is a paste. Add the peanut butter and chicken stock,
and stir to combine. *Mixing the peanut
butter and chicken stock together may take a minute.
Add in the larger amount of the ground oats, and
stir until a dough is formed. The dough will be a little wet at this point.
Place the dough in plastic wrap, or a plastic
bag, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. This will firm up the dough, and make
it easier to roll.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and line two
baking sheets with parchment paper.
Sprinkle some of the reserved oat flour on your
counter, and roll the dough until it is ¼ of an inch thick, adding more of the
oat flour as needed.
Cut the dough into your desired shapes, and
place on the baking sheet.
If
you have any leftover dough, repeat steps 6 and 7 until the dough is all cut
out.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, rotating the baking
sheets halfway through, until the dough is set. Cool, and watch your dog
devour.
